Drumaness Mills 4
Bryansburn Rangers 1
DRUMANESS cantered to a facile
win in the second round of the JJB Sports Irish Cup at Meadowvale on
Saturday.
The Mills got away to the best possible
start when Gary Murdock was perfectly placed to stab the ball home
after the Rangers goalkeeper did well to keep out a Chris Deegan
free kick.
Drumaness, who were without, Philip Rogan
and Paul Walsh, continued to assert their authority and with 10
minutes gone Paddy McDonald went close from just inside the box.
Two minutes later Kyle Rogan picked out
Mark Feenan with a good pass, but the young Ardglass winger shot
narrowly wide.
Bryansburn had their first meaningful
attack in the 15th minute, but their number 7 fired one over the top
of Michael Watson's crossbar.
With 22 minutes gone Chris Deegan made it
2-0 with a trademark free kick when he beat the visiting goalkeeper
all ends up. The visiting custodian was back in action almost
immediately when he saved well from the impressive Feenan.
The Mills made it 3-0 before the break when
Chris Teggart and Murdock combined to create a chance for Feenan and
he headed the ball expertly past the Bryansburn goalkeeper.
Just before the half-time whistle Murdock
almost made it 4-0 when he shot narrowly wide after a surging run.
Drumaness continued to call the shots after
the break and with 53 minutes gone Chris Deegan chanced his arm from
30 yards out, but his effort sailed wide.
Bryansburn pulled one back in the 60th
minute following an untidy goalmouth scramble, but that was all they
could muster as Drumaness quickly regained control.
With 63 minutes gone Murdock went close
again before Teggart and Stevie Deegan played a nice one-two with
Deegan drilling the ball into the bottom corner to make it 4-1.
Stevie Deegan could have made it 5-1
towards the finish, but he headed a Feenan corner over the bar.
