Comber Rec 0
Drumaness Mills 0
A DEPLETED Drumaness side did exceptionally well to take a point
from their trip to Comber Rec on Saturday.
Donal Bell's side was missing quite a few regulars, but they showed
plenty of bottle and character to earn a share of the spoils.
The Mills back four of Paddy McDonald, Aidy Kelly, Kyle Rogan and
Shane Gorman defended stubbornly against a lively Comber attack and
gave superb protection to goalkeeper Michael Watson.
Donal Kennedy, who was outstanding in the middle of the park, and
Paul Walsh battled well in the engine room and created quite a few
openings for strikers Peter Withnell and Neil Walsh.
Withnell was a revelation up front and rolled back the years with a
vintage performance. The ageless striker came close on a few
occasions to breaking the deadlock, but was denied time after time
by the giant Comber goalkeeper.
The home side created the odd chance after the break, but Watson
dealt capably with everything that was thrown at him.
Man of the match Kennedy also went close at the other end, but he
was also left exasperated by the Comber goalkeeper.
At the final whistle, Comber were the happier side as Drumaness
could well left with all three points.
